Job Title: Adjunct Faculty Position in German

Estimated Pay: This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited position. Rate of pay is based on level of education: https://www.udel.edu/faculty-staff/humanresources/payroll/resources/suppay/2026spring/

Location: UD Main Campus – Newark, DE

Position Specific Details:

This is an open and continuous posting for potential adjunct positions. The successful candidate must be available for in-person instruction. Days and times will vary according to the needs of the department each semester. 

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • MA in German Language, Literature, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, or Second Language Acquisition & Teaching (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Native or near-native fluency in German and English (ACTFL Superior or CEFR C1).
  • Experience teaching college-level German in the US. The core responsibilities of this position involve teaching introductory, intermediate, or advanced German-language classes.

Candidates should be:

  • Familiar with current best practices in second language acquisition & pedagogical methods, national and state standards, and intercultural competence.
  • Experienced with using technology to foster student learning.
  • Committed to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment.
  • Able to work with students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning styles.
  • Willing to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes.

Note: Adjunct instructors are also expected to hold one hour of student office hours per course per week.
