Job Title: Adjunct Faculty in Spanish

Anticipated Start Date: Spring Semester 2027 - classes begin February 8, 2027

Estimated Pay: This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited position. Rate of pay is based on level of education:https://www.udel.edu/faculty-staff/human-resources/payroll/resources/suppay/2026spring/ 

Schedule: up to 10 course credits per semester

Location: Dover, Delaware campus

 

The University of Delaware Associate in Arts Program seeks a student-centered instructor to teach in-person introductory Spanish courses in spring 2027. Candidates must be able to teach in Dover and/or Georgetown.  

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Spanish Language, Literature, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, or Second Language Acquisition & Teaching (Ph.D. preferred).

  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English (ACTFL Superior or CEFR C1).

  • Experience: Prior college-level Spanish teaching experience in the US.

Successful candidates should demonstrate: 

  • Familiarity with current best practices in second language acquisition, communicative pedagogical methods, national/state standards, and intercultural competence.

  • Experience integrating technology to enhance student learning.

  • A commitment to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment.

  • The ability to support and engage students from diverse backgrounds and with varied learning styles.

  • A willingness to collaborate with departmental colleagues to advance student outcomes.

  • Availability to hold one hour of student/office hours per week for each course taught.
