Student Diversity & Inclusion is a department at the University of Delaware dedicated to creating services and spaces that make students feel closer to themselves, address their needs as individuals, and promote community oriented solutions to community issues.

Role Description:

The Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) at the University of Delaware is hiring Front Desk Associates. In this position, Front Desk Associates will work closely with professional staff to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment in the CIE, serve as an ambassador of the CIE, assist with clerical duties as needed, and ensure proper use of the CIE space and supplies. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent service by connecting with and greeting CIE guests as well as responding to inquiries via phone and email
  • Utilize job-related software and equipment as needed, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Google Suite, and Canva
  • Perform clerical duties as needed, including printing, scanning, answering emails and/or phones, and assisting with taking inventory
  • Ensure that the front desk, Resource Room, Interfaith Prayer & Meditation space, and the community lounge area are left in a clean, neat, and orderly manner at the start of, during and at the end of each shift.
  • Manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, including the information of any students utilizing the food and supply pantry and Clothing Coop.
  • Ensure proper use of CIE supplies and report broken or unreturned equipment to staff
  • Maintain an open, friendly and inclusive environments for students, staff, and faculty 
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture used for events in the community space
  • Deliver materials/flyers across campus as needed
  • Report and assist in any emergency response according to University of Delaware protocols
  • Attend required trainings and Front Desk Associate staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study 
  • Must be committed to the mission and values of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice at University of Delaware
  • Demonstrated knowledge in diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice on or off campus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and faculty
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a responsible and timely manner, with strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well as Canva
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above
