Position Description:

The University of Delaware Career Center (UDCC) is seeking work study-eligible Peer Consultants. Peer Consultants perform a variety of tasks involving peer advising, document reviews, and other administrative support. A strong emphasis is placed on the professional development of all UDCC student staff. The available position may support the Career Access & Mobility Initiative and will provide peer assisted services beyond the UD Career Center into various campus communities. Applicants will also have opportunities to present career workshops to student groups and staff information/activity tables at various campus events.

GENERAL PEER CONSULTANT MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review student resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles during virtual and in-person drop-ins.

  • Provide appropriate feedback during online and in-person document reviews.

  • Be familiar with and make referrals to the UD Career Center Canvas Site modules to connect students with resources.

  • Support the Career Center with special projects and career programs as needed, including administrative support, tabling, and event coverage (like Career Fairs).

  • Provide accurate information and referrals regarding UDCC programs, services and resources.

  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

CAMI PEER CONSULTANT MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver presentations to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) to promote UD Career Access & Mobility (CAMI) resources and opportunities.

  • Assist with targeted campus-wide communications, including newsletters, social media, and email outreach.

  • Engage with the campus community to foster awareness and involvement in UD CAMI initiatives.

  • Collaborate with UD CAMI staff to develop and implement strategies that support the program’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Willingness to learn: Have a positive attitude and  genuine desire to help UD students.

  • Communication skills: Ability to provide verbal and written feedback to peers, graduate students, and alumni.

  • Professionalism: Maintain confidential materials, arrive promptly to scheduled shifts, dress in business casual or UDCC-provided apparel, communicate with supervisors regarding any impending absences. 

  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs, Zoom video conferencing.

NOTE: This role will primarily be in-person, with opportunities to work remotely during break periods.
