Spin In® Business/Financial Analyst

The Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships (OEIP) at the University of Delaware (UD) is seeking a Business/Financial Analyst  to join an interdisciplinary team of engineers, business analysts, healthcare specialists and athletes to work together as an interdisciplinary team with an innovative company seeking to leverage their existing live, in-person health and human performance training program to establish a scalable [digital] system to effectively reach young audiences.

The student team will work as an independent team, in close consultation and under the guidance of experts and mentors, to design and develop innovative ideas for the digital delivery of curriculum rooted in the science of Human Performance. The team will conduct marketing and business research, analyses and develop an interactive, software/web-based prototype with the objective to make learning about health and human performance engaging, interactive, and exciting for young audiences.

This Spin In® team will be based in a dedicated space located at the Fintech Innovation Hub on the UD STAR campus. Weekly team meetings required; live, in-person format.

Position as Business/Financial Analyst:

Responsibilities entail taking part in a collaborative product development team to research, design, plan and develop an interactive, software/web-based prototype of the specific product with purpose of delivering health and human performance content in an engaging way. This will include:

  • Develop a clear understanding of the existing product and service, and the field of human performance.
  • Identify and analyze existing solutions and competing products and services; understand the need/drive for new solution(s) for human performance for children aged 6-13.
  • Engage with Marketing Specialist to conduct market research, develop and analyze a competitive analysis of existing and competing products and services, including preliminary documentation of current price/cost analysis for the product/service.
  • Work with the marketing and technical teams to research, analyze and recommend opportunities throughout the value chain with respect to customers.
  • Understand technical requirements and work with development team to understand key features.
  • Lead business analysis of the product, market landscape and recommend opportunities to bring the product to market (commercialization opportunities).
  • Development of presentations for internal and external audiences; and assist in development of product educational materials.
  • Interface with entrepreneurs, mentors, and OEIP staff.

Professional qualifications:

  • Enrolled in BS program in Finance, Business Administration, or business-related field.
  • Direct experience and ability to engage in market research and use of research software tools.
  • Ability to research, analyze and develop financial models/recommend confirm business opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret market data and research.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • High attention to detail; excellent communication skills and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the basic premises of human performance with practical understanding of injury prevention, physical conditioning, and recovery techniques through hands-on experience with athletic training programs, enhancing overall performance and well-being, a plus.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Hands on experience as a student athlete and have worked collaboratively with teammates to achieve common goals comma both on and off the field.
  • Understanding Student-Athlete Motivation and Engagement: Skilled in identifying the unique motivations, challenges, and interests of student-athletes, leveraging this insight to create tailored programs and initiatives that foster engagement, enhance performance, and promote well-being both academically and athletically.
  • Understanding of NIL and Student-Athlete Support: Familiar with the integration of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities within athletic programs, ensuring student-athletes are supported in navigating these opportunities while maintaining compliance and balancing their academic and athletic commitments.

 

 Personal qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a personally motivated self-starter; and can also work with little guidance. Must have ability to actively engage with other members on the team, including students, peers, mentors, and experts to further develop his or her knowledge to solve work related challenges. The candidate must be capable of contributing and achieving in a small, highly collaborative, consensus-driven team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

 

Terms and Conditions:

This paid position begins August 2025 and runs through the May 2026 (Spring Semester), with a possibility of Summer Session (through August 2026).  Average hours of 15 hours per week.  Dates will be finalized during hiring process.  Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.

Hiring Timeline:

Start date tentatively August 2025.
