The Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships (OEIP) at the University of Delaware (UD) is seeking a Fashion Business Analyst to join an interdisciplinary team of engineers, marketing specialists, and designers to work together as an interdisciplinary team with an innovative company seeking to assess opportunities within existing markets for their existing product, as well as expansion into new markets.

Role Description:

The student team will work as an independent team, in close consultation and under the guidance of experts and mentors, to conduct in-depth market and business research, analyses to validate existing identified markets and explore new, potential markets where product(s) are most competitive.

This Spin In® team will be based in a dedicated space located at the Fintech Innovation Hub on the UD STAR campus. Weekly team meetings required; live, in-person format.

Position as Fashion Business Analyst:

The responsibilities entail taking part in a collaborative team to include the following:

  • Develop a clear understanding of the existing product, application and features.
  • Engage with Business Analyst and Marketing Specialist to understand existing business models, target market segments, potential customers, products.
  • Engage with Marketing Specialist conduct market research, develop industry analysis, analysis of best practice models – including business operations, management and financials.
  • Recommend a business model/structure and strategy to support business and sustainability goals within initial primary market.
  • Explore needs within new, potential markets where product will be most competitive.
  • Identify, recommend technical upgrades, fashion needs for product to meet needs of end users within new potential industries (i.e. healthcare industries, rehabilitation, etc).
  • Support go-to market strategy techniques and customer relations; interact with potential customers, engage in sales related activities (interviews, surveys, etc.)
  • Understand supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with entrepreneurs, mentors, and OEIP staff.
  • Development of presentations for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s program in Fashion, Business, or related field (preferrerd)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to conduct research; interpret market data and acquired research
  • Ability to understand business plans and commercialization processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint
  • High attention to detail

 Personal qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a personally motivated self-starter; and can also work with little guidance. Must have ability to actively engage with other members on the team, including students, peers, mentors, and experts to further develop his or her knowledge to solve work related challenges. The candidate must be capable of contributing and achieving in a small, highly collaborative, consensus-driven team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

This paid position begins September 2025 and runs through the May 2026 (Spring Semester), with a possibility of Summer Session (through August 2026).  Average hours of 15 hours per week.  Dates will be finalized during hiring process.  Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.
