Role Description/ Responsibilities:

The Gallery Attendant reports to the Visitor Experience Coordinator and supports daily museum operations by providing a welcoming and engaging visitor experience while helping ensure the safety and security of exhibitions and collections. Responsibilities include opening, monitoring, and closing gallery spaces in Old College, Mechanical Hall, and the Mineralogical Museum; greeting visitors and answering general questions about exhibitions; monitoring visitor behavior to protect objects on display; conducting routine gallery walkthroughs; maintaining visitor attendance records; reporting concerns or maintenance issues to staff; and adhering to all museum safety and security procedures. Gallery Attendants also serve as ambassadors for the museums by promoting a positive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications:  

Applicants should demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills and be reliable, punctual, and detail oriented. Candidates should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, follow instructions and established procedures, and engage comfortably with individuals from diverse backgrounds

  • Willingness to learn gallery procedures and exhibition information
