Role Description:

As a Blue Hen Ambassador, you are the face of the University of Delaware. You’ll serve as one of the very first impressions for prospective students and their families, playing a vital role in helping them decide to call UD home. Join our family of over 100 Ambassadors and help us continue spreading Blue Hen pride!

Primary Responsibilities:

Tours

• Lead in-person tours: Provide at least 1-2 in-person tours per week (shifts are ~2.5 hours long).

  • Spring Tour Times: Step-off times are typically 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.

• Support virtual events: Assist with virtual student panels for prospective families tuning in remotely throughout the semester.

Mandatory Training & Open Houses

• Spring training: Attend weekly training sessions for the first 6 weeks of the spring semester

  • We want you to succeed! All new hires are thoroughly trained on campus tour points before leading tours. 

• Saturday open houses: Work all scheduled Saturday open houses during the semester (Spring Dates: February 27, March 20, and April 10). Responsibilities include:

  • Checking in guests & providing campus directions.

  • Hosting residence hall showroom tours.

  • Serving on student panels

  • Leading mini campus tours. 

Leadership & Growth

• Sub-committees: Join optional sub-committees in training, evaluation, recruitment, or community outreach.

• Career advancement: Access internal promotional and leadership pathways within the Blue Hen Ambassador program. 

Qualifications & Eligibility:

• Academic standing: Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University of Delaware. 

• Student Status: Undergraduate Students. We encourage current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to apply.

  • Note: Because this role involves training throughout the spring semester, candidates must be committed to participating through the fall 2027 semester and beyond. 

• Interpersonal & customer service skills: Strong verbal communication skills, a high level of professionalism, and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with visitors and families. 

• UD pride: Deep passion for the University of Delaware and a desire to share your authentic student experience. 

• Campus involvement: Active participation in campus clubs, student organizations, or university-sponsored activities is a plus
