Vice Chair, Department of OB/GYN - Rowan-Virtua SOM

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks to appoint a Vice Chair to better meet the mission areas of the department.  In the interests of providing leadership, direction and development for all teaching, clinical, research and support activities and with the ongoing interest to further support Rowan University research endeavors and status with grant seeking and the ongoing optimizations with Virtua Medical Group would benefit from the participation of increased faculty leadership within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. This position would report directly to the Chair of the Department of Ob/GYN; the Vice Chair works closely with Rowan-Virtua Medicine Administration team and members of the Dean’s cabinet to fulfill this role.  The Vice Chair should be prepared to represent or act as an alternate to the Chair if required.

Essential Duties

Clinical

Directs Quality Projects to ensure success in VMG, and other Rowan Medicine Initiatives for patient care in relation to the school, affiliates and medical insurance carrier programs.  Specifics will vary based on program, but metrics and could include:

  • Setting standards for Faculty and Staff in relation to meeting quality metrics
  • Providing regularly scheduled education and feedback regarding these metrics to responsible parties and providing corrective action where needed.

Sets standard clinical workflows such as:

  • Standing Orders
  • Rooming Protocols
  • Scheduled Management
  • Patient Safety

 Academic

  • Direct educational programs to ensure pre-doctoral and post-doctoral faculty success in competencies, accreditation standards, quality, consistency and development of SOM
  • Participate in interviewing and on-boarding of hires for faculty and department level staff.
  • Review and prepare performance information for this domain for all faculty in anticipation of annual faculty evaluations.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Department’s Clerkship Program
  • Serve as proxy for Chair as needed at School, University and Affiliate level committees.
  • Serve as proxy, as needed when Chair is unavailable due to vacation, leave, etc.
  • Assist Chair/Administrator in preparation of Departmental annual budget.
  • Participate in interviewing and on-boarding of hires for faculty and department level staff
  • Mentor junior faculty in building a scholarly profile
  • Serve as the point person for new ideas students/faculty would like to develop.
  • Assist Chair/Administrator in preparation of annual Departmental budget.

 Administration

  • Serves as Clerkship Director
  • Serve as proxy for Chair as needed at School, University and Affiliate level committees
  • Serve as proxy for Chair as needed when Chair is unavailable due to vacation, leave, etc.
  • Assist Chair/Administrator in preparation of Departmental annual budget
  • Participate in interviewing and on-boarding hires for faculty and department level staff
  • Others duties as assigned by the Chair

The selected candidate must hold the following:

  • Valid New Jersey Medical License
  • CDS
  • DEA
  • Board Certified/Eligible in OB/GYN

Our main clinical campus is located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area approximately 8 miles from Philadelphia, 1 hour for the Atlantic Ocean and 2 hours from New York City.

  • This faculty appointment is tenure eligible and may be granted upon successful completion of criteria listed in the Rowan-Virtua SOM Faculty Bylaws.
  • Faculty Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor is pending review and recommendation made by the Faculty Affairs Committee
