The Rowan University Early Childhood Leadership Institute (ECLI) is hiring part-time, hourly trainers and coaches, who will be part of a small team providing coaching, training, and technical support as part of the 6-month seminar for Preschool Instructional Coaches (PIC) through a new MOU developed between Rowan University and NJDOE. The candidate will independently perform professional duties and responsibilities that revolve around coaching, training, creating and utilizing resources, coordination of coaching and training tasks, facilitation of professional learning communities and any other duties assigned. The position has some flexibility in remote work with reimbursed day travel availability throughout the state of New Jersey when required for meetings and trainings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of services, technical assistance, training, professional learning communities and coaching.
  • Provide in person and virtual coaching for leaders in best practices, goal setting and planning, facilitating and leading coaching interactions in small coaching groups and one-on-ones.
  • Prepare documents, reports and analysis and assist with evaluations, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Review assignments the participants submit and provide continuous feedback to participants as the assignments are revised and improved.
  • Engage in regular communication with PIC, project leader, project coordinator and other staff, including announcements and reminders of initiatives, meetings and assignments, follow-ups with questions, follow-up with training participant responses to requests such as surveys.
  • Follow and track the master schedule for multiple projects, coordinating dates and scheduling preparation time for self and directors, help with preparing materials for project tasks and trainings, updating list of training documentation, help maintain and update list of project participants, attend meetings on an as needed basis, coordinating on creation of the trainings, lead trainings with ECLI team members & guest speakers, when needed.
  • Ensure all information is updated and maintained in the institute's LMS platform and other online platforms used for planning and team’s organization of PD materials.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and state partners as needed to support projects.
  • Perform other special projects and related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree preferably in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or related fields.
  • Current NJ Preschool Standard Teaching Certification (P-3 Teaching Licensure).
  • Experience as a NJ Preschool Instructional Coach in a NJ School District and/or Similar Roles.
  • Professional experience as an educator in a P-3 education setting.
  • Professional experience as a leader, trainer, coach, technical assistance specialist or a related role in an early childhood sector. 
  • Understanding of NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
  • Understanding of the NJDOE approved curriculum programs for PreK classrooms.
  • Understanding state quality rating and improvement systems, state, non-profit and other sectors and systems in early childhood care and education, especially mixed delivery models.
  • A keen interest in building capacity in clients and supporting adult learners in reaching their goals.

Rate: $43 per hour

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work hours cannot exceed 25 hours per week. The work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriation.
