Specific tasks, duties, and responsibilities:

  • Facilitate student meetings for the Academic Improvement Program, Rowan’s academic recovery program for students on academic probation and academic warning.
  • Assist with early intervention efforts for students with urgent flag items raised through our retention software system, the Rowan Success Network (RSN).
  • Support students and help them develop realistic goals and success plans that will contribute to academic success and overall well-being (using the six dimensions of Rowan Thrive).
  • Help students develop interpersonal communication skills, time management strategies, organization skills, and ability to set and achieve goals while having a sensitivity to mental health issues.
  • Assess student progress toward goals and provide follow up as needed; maintain consistent and confidential records of student data.
  • Develop and deliver workshops supporting student success and overall well-being.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of campus resources, policies, and practices and ways to connect students to pertinent offices when necessary.
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse student populations including, but not limited to, first-generation, military, neurodivergent, low income, adult, and underrepresented individuals.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including staying current with student success related issues and initiatives.
  • Assist with Open Houses, Accepted Student Receptions, Orientations, and other activities.
  • Serve as a resource for the University community for programming initiatives.
  • Position may require some evening and weekend activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required. 

 

Rate: $25-27 per hour

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work hours cannot exceed 25 hours per week. The work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriation.

Notes:

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Note on STEM-OPT Employment
Please note that STEM OPT employment is not permitted at Rowan University. To be eligible for a STEM OPT extension, the student's employer must be registered in E-Verify and must use the system to verify all new employees. While Rowan University is registered in the E-Verify system, the University does not use the system to verify all new employees, only those that are working on a Federal Contract. This means that Rowan does not permit individuals to work at the University using a STEM OPT Employment Authorization Document as proof of US Work Authorization.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Rowan is committed in assisting all members of our University community in providing for their safety and security.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available on the Rowan University Police Department (RUPD), Clery Act webpage here. 

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as crime prevention, RUPD authority/jurisdiction, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on all our campuses. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act or the "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Police Department.
