Through the Center for Professional Development (RCPD), we support nearly 3,000 undergraduate and graduate business students in building the skills, confidence, and professional presence needed to thrive in today’s dynamic and competitive job market.
Our comprehensive approach integrates one-on-one career coaching, drop-in advising, mock interviews, employer engagement opportunities, professional development workshops, and embedded career curriculum. We place strong emphasis on preparing students for careers across business disciplines while equipping them with the agility to navigate an evolving workforce increasingly shaped by emerging technologies, data-driven decision-making, and artificial intelligence.
The Opportunity:
The RCPD is seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Career Development Associate to join our team in a part-time, temporary capacity. This role is ideal for a professional who brings both a strong understanding of business career pathways and a passion for staying at the forefront of career coaching in an AI-enabled world.
As a Career Development Associate, you will play a critical role in guiding students through an ever-changing career landscape—helping them not only secure internships and full-time roles, but also understand how technology, automation, and AI are reshaping industries, roles, and required skill sets.
Key Responsibilities:
Career Coaching
• Provide individualized career coaching through 30-minute appointments and 15-minute drop-in sessions for undergraduate and graduate business students.
• Deliver tailored guidance on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, and internship/job search strategies, with a strong understanding of business career pathways and specifically the majors, minors and concentrations offered at Rowan.
• Educate students on how emerging technologies, including AI, are influencing hiring practices, skill demands, and career trajectories
Workshop Facilitation & Student Engagement.
• Design, facilitate, and continuously enhance in-person and virtual workshops aligned with career fairs, networking events, and classroom programming.
• Incorporate topics related to the evolving world of work, such as AI in the job search, digital branding, and the future of business careers.
• Develop and update career resources—including resumes, cover letters, and industry guides—to reflect current business trends, recruiting expectations, and technological advancements.
Collaboration & Strategy
• Partner closely with the Career Development team and employer engagement colleagues to ensure coaching strategies and programming align with current employer needs and emerging trends in business industries.
• Stay informed on evolving recruiting technologies (e.g., applicant tracking systems, AI resume screening tools) and bring innovative, forward-looking ideas to enhance student readiness.
• Contribute to the development of modern, scalable career coaching practices that leverage technology and data insights Campus Integration.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to integrate career readiness into academic experience and ensure alignment with business curriculum goals.
• Represent the RCPD at campus events and programming, with occasional evening availability required.

Qualifications:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree preferred (Higher Education, Counseling, Business, or related field).
Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in career development, advising, higher education, human resources, or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of business career pathways and employment trends across industries.
Skills & Knowledge
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and motivate diverse student populations.
• Strong understanding of the evolving hiring landscape, including the role of AI and technology in recruitment and career development.
• Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to translate emerging trends into actionable student guidance.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience with career services platforms (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity) or applicant tracking systems.
• Proficiency with virtual platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, including virtual facilitation.
• Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact) and social media strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with higher education systems such as Banner, CampusLabs, or Tableau.
• Knowledge of career assessment tools such as Focus2, StrengthsFinder, or MBTI.
• Experience integrating technology, data, or AI-informed practices into career coaching or student development initiatives.
