As an Instructional Designer, you will play a key role in shaping engaging, accessible, and effective online learning experiences in partnership with faculty and academic units. This role collaborates closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to design learner-centered, inclusive, and pedagogically sound learning experiences that reflect best practices in instructional design and align with institutional standards. What will you be doing?
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts to design, develop, and enhance online courses using the Learning Management System and integrated technologies.
- Apply instructional design principles to create engaging, accessible, and outcomes-aligned online learning experiences.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for instructional technologies used in online course delivery.
- Deliver training, and resources to support faculty in effective online teaching and course design.
- Review and assess courses for quality, accessibility, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Manage and support small-scale instructional design projects, including timelines, documentation, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Research emerging trends and tools in instructional design and recommend improvements to digital learning practices.
What do we require from you?
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in instructional design, educational technology, or related field.
- Experience supporting users in a higher education environment with online learning technologies.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and integrated instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and evaluate online courses using instructional design best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues and supporting diverse users.
- Strong instructional design and course development expertise.
- Effective project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and consultative skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and quality assurance practices in online learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and user support.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary & Benefits:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 24, (Step 1 $76,486.41 - Step 4 $87,954.56) with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10).
For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
