The Department of Wellness and Inclusive Services in Education operates within the College of Education and offers programs including the following: Master of Arts in Special Education and Inclusive Practices; Learning Disability Teacher Consultant (LDTC) Certification; multiple Certificates of Graduate Study (COGS); Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Education;  Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) Endorsement (post-bac and graduate programs); Counseling in Educational Settings; Master of Arts in School Psychology; Educational Specialist in School Psychology; and School Nursing.

The College of Education is seeking a qualified and experienced school counselor and/or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to supervise field experiences and/or teach professional courses within the M.A. in Counseling in Educational Settings program. The successful candidate should be familiar with the professional standards of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and American School Counselor Association (ASCA), including the ASCA National Model, as well as the 2024 Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) Standards. This is a part-time, adjunct position with the possibility of renewal.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Earned master’s degree in school counseling, counseling, or a closely related field, and/or hold an active Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential.
  • Effective use of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Ability to facilitate engaging online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to assess student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Ability to integrate relevant professional and human services experience into classroom instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with P–12 schools and school communities.
  • A teaching and learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.
  • Familiarity with counseling professional standards and ethical practices, including ACA/ ASCA standards, and 2024 CACREP Standards.

Preferred

  • PhD or EdD in counseling, counselor education, or a closely related field, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • At least two years of professional experience as a school counselor in New Jersey public schools.
  • College teaching experience in school counseling, counseling, or a closely related area.
  • Experience with CACREP-aligned curriculum, assessment, or program accreditation.

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, and in accordance with the current MOA, Rowan University adjuncts are provided with a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year. Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.

Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Note on STEM-OPT Employment
Please note that STEM OPT employment is not permitted at Rowan University. To be eligible for a STEM OPT extension, the student's employer must be registered in E-Verify and must use the system to verify all new employees. While Rowan University is registered in the E-Verify system, the University does not use the system to verify all new employees, only those that are working on a Federal Contract. Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as crime prevention, RUPD authority/jurisdiction, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on all our campuses. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act or the "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Police Department.
