BASIC FUNCTION:

Promote health, wellness, and academic success among KSU students through provision of high quality clinical services and outreach programs to students with substance use disorders and various psychologial, academic and interpersonal concerns.  Assist in coordinating the Collegiate Recovery Community. Work collaboratively with mental health providers and medical staff.Reports to Associate Director, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to KSU students with substance use concerns and other mental health disorders.

Work with an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, case managers, and administrators to provide patient-focused care in a supportive environment.

Maintain accurate and timely records of services delivered, using an electronic medical record.

Provide crisis intervention as needed to the university community.

Provide consultation and education to University staff regarding alcohol and chemical dependency.

Develop, implement, and assess group programs for KSU students with alcohol and chemical dependency issues.

Work collaboratively with various university departments such as Student Affairs, Athletics, Residence Life, Student Conduct, Recreational Services, Veteran Services and others to provide patient-focused care in a supportive environment.

Work with community agencies, as appropriate, to provide patient-focused care in a supportive environment.

May consult with and provide clinical supervision to professional mental health and substance treatment providers, as well as interns/externs from various graduate programs.

Coordinate Collegiate Recovery Community in collaboration with Associate Director, CAPS.

Develop, implement, and assess substance use recovery programs for KSU's campus community and Collegiate Recovery Community.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in counseling. Two years of direct care experience in alcohol and chemical dependency counseling.

License/Certification:

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio, (PCC)

Some level of certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Ohio, (CDCA) or above

Knowledge Of:

Current standards of care in the treatment of substance use disorders, particularly among young adults *
Current mental health issues prevalent among college populations
Strategies to engage students in Collegiate Recovery Community
Knowledge of Student Affairs in Higher Education

Skill In:

Client assessment and diagnosis
Individual and group counseling
Written and interpersonal communication *

Ability To:

Work cooperatively and collegially with an interdisciplinary group of professionals
Develop, implement, and assess programs *
Work with a population that is diverse in national origin, sexual orientation, and race
Work day and evening hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Experience working specifically with young adult or college campus populations.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor in State of Ohio, (PCC-S)

Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, (LICDC) and/or Supervisor (LICDC-S) in the State of Ohio.
