The University of San Diego is searching for an ordained Catholic priest in good standing with his local Ordinary and/or Religious Superior to join the University Ministry team beginning in July of 2020. Primary duties will include liturgical and Sacramental ministries, pastoral counseling and spiritual direction, and collaboration with the ministry team to support the spiritual development of USD community members. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Daily and weekly liturgical and Sacramental ministries; assisting with the planning, presiding and evaluating of liturgical celebrations.
- Pastoral counseling and spiritual direction to USD students and employees
- Assisting with retreats and other programs sponsored by the office of University Ministry
- Ordained Catholic priest
- Good standing with their local Ordinary or Religious Superior
- Masters of Divinity Degree or a Master of Arts Degree in a closely related field
- Two years of Campus Ministry experience or 5 years of ministry experience in other settings
- At least 5 years of Campus Ministry experience in a university setting
Performance Expectations - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Rigorous theological education and ability to communicate theological, catechetical and spiritual concepts to undergraduate and graduate students
- Ability to collaborate effectively and creatively as a member of a team
- Sufficient initiative and confidence to work individually
- Demonstrated proficiency with facilitating group discussions, group reflections and faith sharing group activities
- Extensive knowledge of Catholic faith and practice
- Knowledge of student development issues
- Ability to work and minister effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment
