Faculty Position Information

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Director of Clinical Education position for the 2025-2026 academic year in the ACU-Dallas Online MS-SLP Program.

This position is primarily remote, with required participation in on-campus clinical residencies each semester at our Dallas campus in Addison, Texas. This role is primarily administrative with some clinical supervision responsibilities. You will work closely with the MS-SLP Online Program Director.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing graduate student practicum, including acquiring clinical placements at external clinical sites, and initiating affiliation agreements for all sites.
  • Integrating current clinical policies, procedures and practices into the online modality. Includes creating course syllabi, student handbooks, and other documents; training adjunct clinical staff/faculty; and systems for maintaining documentation for CAA standards.
  • Developing and maintaining effective community partnerships for clinical practicum experiences.
  • Managing and maintaining documentation for students to meet requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competency through ASHA.
  • Managing and maintaining documentation to ensure students meet state licensure requirements. Requires working with students residing throughout the United States and developing an understanding of the varied state licensure requirements, the methods to meet requirements when differing from the state of Texas.
  • Collaborating with other clinical educators in administrative tasks, such as securing clinical placements, supervision tasks related to residency instruction, and some online classroom instruction in areas of expertise.
  • Traveling to, participating in, and co-developing residency instruction at the ACU Dallas campus.
  • Effective communication, strong professional writing skills, attention to detail, collaboration with other ACU faculty, proficiency in technology-related skills, and collegiality with clinical sites are essential skills for this role. A passion for graduate students in a faith-based online learning space and the ability to hold paramount the best interests of the students are vital.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in speech-language pathology; hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP); hold (or be eligible for) a current Texas SLP license; and have a minimum of four years of professional clinical experience and significant supervisory expertise and experience in online instruction are preferred.
