Job Summary:

The Marist University Education Department invites applications for the full-time position of Lecturer of Education to begin in Fall 2026. This position is an in-person position at Marist University’s main campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in teacher education, consistent with the applicant’s areas of expertise and the department’s curricular needs.
  • Advise students on academic progress and NYS certification requirements.
  • Participate in department, school, and faculty meetings and engages in key initiatives at all these levels as part of a departmental team engaged in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Engage in professional activity, as relevant to the position.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student recruitment and retention efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

We invite applications from individuals with expertise in Educational Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) who are deeply committed to preparing future educators. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A doctorate in Education, Educational Technology or related field by the fall of 2026.
  • Professional experience in the integration of technology into teaching and learning in academic settings (K-12 and/or higher education).
  • A student-centered approach in guiding the next generation of teachers.
  • Engagement in scholarship and/or professional development that is appropriate for a term faculty line.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in K-12 schools.
  • An ability to model culturally responsive pedagogical approaches across all courses and foster an inclusive classroom environment.

Essential Functions:

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in K-12 education methods and educational technology instruction. Supervision and assessment of student teachers may also be included. Also responsible for academic advising of students and participation as part of a departmental team engaged in continuous improvement efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse and marginalized communities in K-12 settings.
  • Prior experience teaching at the college level.
  • Evidence of commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive technology practices, including familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), assistive technology, and other tools that support learners
  • Demonstrated ability to design courses and develop programming that thoughtfully integrates educational technology, including emerging tools in artificial intelligence (AI)

  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.

About the Department/School:

The Education Department is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences along with departments for psychology, criminal justice, and social work. The Education Department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities (2) a birth through second grade add-on teacher certification, and (3) adolescence education, grades 7 – 12, with dual certification for students with disabilities in eight content areas (English, math, social studies, biology, chemistry, earth science, Spanish, and French). The department also offers two master’s level degrees: Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Science in Education, Contemporary Curriculum & Instruction.
