Overview:

The Department of Social Work at Quinnipiac University is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our School of Health Sciences as a Full-Time Clinical Faculty and Associate Director of its new Online Master of Social Work (MSW) Program. As a Clinical Faculty and Associate Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of social work professionals. The new online MSW program is expected to admit the first cohort of students in January 2025. This is a full-time 12-month faculty position, which has administrative and teaching responsibilities, designated scholarly agenda and service requirement in relation to the School of Health Sciences strategic plan and Social Work program and department requirements. This position requires on-campus presence. Faculty rank and compensation is commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.

Associate Director, Online MSW program is a faculty position with a full-time, twelve-month appointment at the Department of Social Work. According to the CSWE standards, the incumbent must devote a minimum of 50% of time in program administration, and a maximum of 35% teaching responsibility annually.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Serve as an advocate for online MSW students and faculty teaching in the online program.
  • Be appropriately available for online MSW students and faculty teaching in the online program.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Field Education, Online MSW Field Coordinator, Social Work Department Chair, and Social Work Department Associate Chair.
  • Provide support to faculty teaching in the online MSW program.
  • Coordinate with online MSW admissions and Graduate Affairs Office, including meeting with prospective students, making admissions decisions, and planning/implementing orientation of incoming students.
  • Manage online MSW curriculum, including course planning and recommending MSW faculty teaching assignments to the Department Chair/MSW Director.
  • Implement the School of Health Sciences and the Online MSW program strategic plan, in conjunction with the Department Chair.

Administration and Management of the Online MSW Program

  • Coordinate regular assessment of the Online MSW Program, Online MSW courses, and implicit and explicit curriculum consistent with desired leaning and performance outcomes for the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation compliance.
  • Promote the Online MSW Program, include the participation of open houses, student recruitment events and conferences.
  • Review and update the Online MSW Program content in the  Online MSW Student Handbook.
  • Oversee the development of online MSW course schedules to meet online graduate student needs, in coordination with appropriate personnel.
  • Oversee academic advising for Online MSW students.
  • Maintain syllabi for all online MSW courses.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned by MSW Program Director.

Faculty Affairs

  • Recommend the employment of and supports part-time faculty to meet online MSW course coverage needs.
  • At the direction of the MSW Program Director, supervise faculty and staff in the online MSW Program.
  • In conjunction with the MSW Program Director, assign teaching schedules to meet online MSW student needs.

Accreditation

  • Support successful adherence to MSW program accreditation standards.
  • Assist in the accreditation process with CSWE, including continuous review and assessment of the program to ensure compliance with CSWE.
  • Ensure adherence to states licensure requirements for the online MSW Program.
  • At the direction of the MSW Program Director, conduct self-study for accreditation and continuing accreditation.
  • Identify data trends to propose programmatic changes and/or contribute to strategic planning.
  • Communicate and coordinate with all external bodies regarding accreditation and licensure.

Teaching

  • Teach MSW program assigned by the department.

 

Education Requirements:

  • Must possess a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program

Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in CSWE accredited master’s degree level Social Work program
  • Successful records as teachers who have demonstrated a commitment to leadership through their service activities at the departmental, college/school, and/or University levels
  • Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to serve in an academic leadership capacity through teaching, curriculum development, administrative experience, and other academic and professional activities, according to CSWE standards
  • Two-years post-MSW experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two years administrative experience in online social work education
  • Doctoral degree, preferably in social work
  •  Member of a social work professional organization
  • Demonstrated grant writing skills will be given preferential consideration.
  • Leadership and/or managerial experience as coordinator, director, manager, or similar administrative position in academic institution.
  • Student advising experience in MSW program
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community
