Overview: This position is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of clinical education and building clinical partnerships to maintain and build future clinical opportunities for students in SHS. In addition, oversight of clinical compliance and policies/procedures for graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Health Sciences (SHS). The position will support overall processes around clinical compliance and will work in conjunction with clinical coordinators across all programs to assure consistency in policy, where applicable, to help guide overall compliance school-wide and to build new clinical placements sites, as needed. This position will supervise the Clinical Education Specialist and will report to the dean of the School of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Dean’s office in establishing and developing clinical/experiential education partnerships, including internship opportunities, clinical sites, and external partners;
  • Team worker and collaborate closely with the dean and dean’s team, and other School leadership to promote SHS and QU’s mission, vision, core values, and strategic plans. Value and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion among all practice in the duties of this position; and advocate the School of Health Sciences initiatives;
  • Lead the collaboration among departmental/academic program clinical education directors to serve all SHS units and potential partnerships with School of Nursing and School of Medicine at QU, coordinators, administrative personnel, manage clinical and experiential education affiliation agreements for all SHS programs and coordination with Office of General Counsel. This school and university level coordination will lead to more efficient oversight of clinical practices, processes, and legal compliance;
  • Manage clinical coordination committee responsibilities, with a focus on new affiliation agreements and renewals to meet ongoing needs of the programs;
  • Assist SHS Director of Finance and Dean with budgetary recommendations for clinical/experiential education software and vendor contracts;
  • Oversee responses to inquiries regarding clinical compliance requirements, policies, and procedures. Act accordingly and timely for solutions to clinical education compliance issues that arise.
  • Manage student misconduct at clinical/experiential education sites with chairs, program directors, and departmental academic progression and retention committees;
  • Manage Title IX related issues for students occurs at clinical or experiential learning sites with QU Title IX Coordinator;
  • Serve as the dean’s designee regarding student’s background checks and drug clearance issues, conduct investigations, process medical and religious exception requests, health, and other clinical education requirements, and ensure student compliance, and any adjudication of such issues;
  • Act as the SHS liaison with Student Health Services regarding injury and accidental exposure incident reports and processes;
  • Act as the SHS representative in communications related to clinical education compliance issues or new direction and student onboarding requirements with clinical education partners. Communicate updates with Department Chairs, program directors and clinical education related faculty and across SHS departments;
  • Review and revise clinical education affiliation agreements for up-to-date federal, state law, and University and School policies and procedures compliance;
  • Comply with FERPA, HIPAA and any other Federal, state, and local laws in managing clinical education sites and supervision of students;
  • High ethical and professional standards in managing sensitive situations and confidential information;
  • Supervise Clinical Education Specialists;
  • Participate in school and university related student recruitment events as needed;
  • Any other duties and support to the Dean’s Office assigned by the dean
Education Requirements:
  • Associate professor or above with terminal degree required
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of documented experience in higher education and/or clinical education leadership 
  • Evidence in the commitment in providing student-centered education and contributing to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community
  • Experience in working with external partners
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Be able to manage and keep accurate records
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Promote and implement diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence for student experiential learning
  • Committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in clinical education compliance;
  • Experience in Title IX compliance;
  • Experience in handling conflicts between students and clinical sites;
  • Ability to draft education affiliation agreements
