Responsibilities: |
- Supervision: Take a proactive approach in overseeing your group, anticipating and addressing potential concerns to ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and development.
- Academic Support: Assist students with homework, projects, and academic challenges, offering guidance and encouragement to support educational success including implementing a reward system to recognize and celebrate academic achievements, promoting a positive and motivating environment.
- Enrichment Programs: Work collaboratively with the team to develop, coordinate and deliver a diverse range of youth development programs and special events, utilizing Boys & Girls Clubs of America resources to enrich programming, active participation and reinforce the Club’s dedication to empowering youth through social/emotional learning, fine and performing arts and physical recreation and fitness. Integration of video games is encouraged to enhance problem-solving, teamwork and overall digital literacy and safety.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Build meaningful connections with youth members, serving as a positive role model and providing emotional support and mentorship.
- Behavior Management: Apply effective strategies to maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive environment. Use strategic approaches to de-escalate situations through positive reinforcement, active listening, and conflict resolution techniques. Address behavioral concerns with care and understanding, fostering a supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth and accountability.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with Club staff to provide updates on students' progress and address any concerns or questions.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all participants. Maintain accurate attendance records and follow proper check-in/check-out procedures and be well versed in safety protocols and emergency response procedures. Equipping youth with the knowledge and skills to navigate technology safely and responsibly and evaluate on-line information critically.
- Training: Participate in all required training and certifications to ensure adherence to Boys & Girls Clubs standards and state regulations.

Qualifications: |
- Experience working with youth in an afterschool program, summer camp or similar environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds and foster positive relationships.
- A genuine passion for youth development and a commitment to making a positive impact on young lives.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and neatness in assigned tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-orientated environment.
- First Aid and CPR Certification is preferred with a willingness to obtain if necessary.

Hours of Position: |
- 6-8 hours per week
- Boys and Girls Clubs hours of operation are M-F between 3:00-6:20pm for afterschool programs. Applicants must have time available within these hours to be able to work at this location.
