Job Summary:
The Human Immunology Lab Manager will maintain oversight of numerous samples and datasets coming into the new Core facility as part of the expanded Departmental research enterprise. The incumbent will provide technical expertise and guidance in assay design and execution and develops new assays and procedures in the lab in collaboration with researchers. Drafts study reports as applicable and contributes to scientific manuscripts. Manages and supervises staff members, including the Flow Cytometry Core Operator. Oversees all Core facility billing procedures and applicable financial reporting. Works with Lab Director and University financial office to establish user rates for multiple core instruments and services, and reviews rates as needed. Works with Lab Director and tech staff to establish processes and responsibilities for tracking core usage data and generating user invoices. Works with RF and State accounting team and department finance support to establish invoicing processes. Monitors HIL core revenues and expenditures and provides updates to Lab Director and department Chair as requested. Oversees sample inventory, samples in queue, oversees distribution of data outputs and data reports for users and collaborators and ensures data QA/QC with support of Core Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience to include experience operating immunology core instrumentation required. Experience training students, technicians and other faculty on core instrumentation use required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience troubleshooting instrumentation issues and working with maintenance agreements and vendors preferred. Experience with core facility financials (inventory control, purchasing, usage monitoring, invoicing) preferred.
Work Days:
M-F Days some weekends or evenings may be required
