Job Summary: At Upstate Medical University, the Department of Family Medicine (FM) and the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine (PHPM) have both historical and current close working relationships. The two departments are presently seeking to recruit a jointly-appointed faculty member. This position would be facilitating the scholarship of Family Medicine faculty, residents, and students. The PHPM and FM chairs would both be available to mentor and consult with the position. Additionally, the position will have a role in teaching a variety of courses for the MPH program. This position would likely teach second sections of public health courses, as needed. It also would involve research consulting, through the Center for Research & Evaluation, a core research methods consultation facility operated by PHPM.
Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree in a relevant discipline, including public health, community health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, or similar; previous experience in peer-reviewed publication; knowledge of Family Medicine research. Proficiency in inferential statistics, including the use of at least one common statistical package (such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R). Knowledge of qualitative research.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate (PhD, ScD, DrPH, EdD in a relevant discipline, including public health, community health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, or similar; previous experience in peer-reviewed publication; knowledge of Family Medicine research. Doctorates in clinical fields (MD, DO, PsyD, DSW, DNP) will also be considered with substantial research experience, including both publication and external grant funding history. Experience teaching graduate, medical, or residency learners is helpful. Excellent written and communication skills.
