Job Summary: 1. Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples. Collects specimens for laboratory analysis.
2. Provides basic patient care as ordered. Administers medications and treatments as directed. Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures.
3. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
4. Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical records.
5. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
6. Coordinates with the surgical schedulers, surgical appointment calendars and the operating room as necessary.
7. Handles variety of matters involving contact with various staff, patients, medical staff, government agencies, insurance carriers and the public.
8. Composes correspondence and disseminates to appropriate individuals.
9. Prepares various documents and handles confidential matters in accordance with clinic rules and procedures.
10. Obtains insurance authorizations and precertifications in accordance with insurance company policies as necessary. Must be able to attain authorizations through the appropriate websites and by calling the insurance companies directly
11. Answers telephones, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.
12. Requests, locates, sends, and receives patient medical records as necessary.
13. Maintains files and assists in establishing office systems.
14. Completes insurance, disability and workers compensation forms.
15. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered LPN. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
