Serves as a resource of information for referring physicians. Provides comprehensive teaching of patient or families regarding the etiology, inheritance, incidence carrier risks, genetic testing, test results and their implications for the individual and the family members. Provides crisis and grief counseling when needed and makes appropriate referrals. Responsible for developing and implementing educational programs for the community physicians as well as interdisciplinary staff at UH. The Genetic Counselor has a role in case management as they assist in making referrals to sub specialists, community services, resources and identifying financial coverage and authorization of services based upon individual patient needs. Interventions involve a disciplined application of professional knowledge related to genetic technologies, theories and resources for a broad range of problems. This position provides genetic counseling at a specialized level of practice.

This position is clinically focused with responsibilities including clinical physics services for external beam radiation therapy that includes IMRT, VMAT, TBI, TSEI, IGRT, RGSC, SBRT, as well as SRS with Gamma Knife and brachytherapy programs to assure the safe, effective, and accurate delivery of radiation therapy. The individual is also expected to be involved in some research and educational services in support of the institutional mission. This position is flexible, and an experienced senior physicist may be considered for this position.
