The Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. (Anticipated hiring range: $78,000 - $90,000 per year).

Qualifications:
This position requires a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or closely related area. We are looking for candidates with postdoctoral experience, an established research program, and successful university-level teaching.
Responsibilities:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching (general education and major courses; regular weekly teaching load is 12 credit hours), scholarship (research and grants), and service (student advising, serving on department, college, and university committees). Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics consists of 18 full-time faculty, 13 full-time equivalent lecturers, and around 120 math majors. We offer four options in the Bachelor’s degree: General Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics, as well as MS in Mathematics and MS in Data Science and Analytics. Current research interests in the Applied Mathematics group include: Fluid Dynamics, Biomathematics, Nonlinear PDE’s, Symmetries, and Conservation Laws. We place a high priority on quality teaching and engagement with students, and we also require and value research and service. We have a highly successful history of supporting undergraduate research.

Out of State Employment: All work must be performed within the State of California. Faculty assignments include in-person duties that require an on-campus presence.

Authorization to Work: Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. For faculty already in the United States who hold a valid nonimmigrant visa (such as F-1, J-1, or O-1), Chico State may consider filing a petition to change their status to H-1B if the fee does not apply.
Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.
