Graduate Assistant Pool

POSITION

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Graduate Assistant Pool.

This position provides an opportunity to assist the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Office of the Dean with data analysis and research. Applicants should have a strong background in one of the disciplines in the humanities or social sciences, as well as have an interest in student success, research methodology, data analysis, and use of applied data.

The Graduate Assistant will support tasks such as:

  • Survey construction, distribution, and analysis
  • Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Database maintenance
  • Submission and tracking of Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposals
  • Research report creation and oral and written presentation of findings
  • Data project management and tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a pool of Graduate Assistants for the college to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program at California State University, Fullerton
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Available weekdays during hours of operation (8am-5pm)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research skills including the ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
  • SPSS experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, use independent judgment, and apply critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and university leadership

COMPENSATION

All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only. 

Classification Range: $2,943 to $5,508 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,800

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time based assigned.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
