Salary

Classification Range $16.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $16 per hour.

Work Schedule

Up to 20 hours per week. Available hours between 7am - 10pm Monday through Thursday and/or between 7am - 5pm Friday.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, Parking Service Officers (PSOs) work with full-time Parking Officers to enforce campus parking regulations and assist the public. Together with the full-time officers, they are responsible for all parking enforcement related operations occurring in the University’s parking lots and structures. PSOs are expected to perform all duties effectively, efficiently, and with integrity.

  • Parking Enforcement: patrol parking facilities and issue parking citations to vehicles parked in violation of University parking and traffic regulations and/or the California Vehicle Code, including but not limited to: enforcing requirements for the use of parking spaces designated for the disabled; DMV disabled person’s placard misuse; recovering lost or stolen parking permits; immobilizing vehicles with five or more delinquent parking violations. This position is also tasked with vehicular and pedestrian traffic control during special events occurring on campus, as well as conducting traffic control during emergency situations.
  • Public Services, which includes providing the following services in University parking facilities: escorts for emergency vehicles; responding and assisting during emergencies.
  • Information Services, which includes assisting the campus community by providing directions and parking information and reporting incidents/concerns/suspicious persons to University Police.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California driver’s license (Class C minimum)
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to act in an appropriate manner with sensitive and confidential information/situation
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, possibly in inclement weather
  • Ability to push, pull or lift traffic equipment weighing up to 50lbs
  • Customer service experience preferred

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
