Classification Range $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $17.00.

Job Summary

This is a Federal Work Study position. Students must have FWS to apply for this position. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. The candidate must be able to listen to others and respond in a clear, accurate, and concise manner, be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, and work and interact with a diverse population and professional staff. The candidate should be a quick learner, follow directions, and complete tasks promptly. Prior experience working in customer service with college students or the public is desired.

The student will assist in various office areas and pending office needs such as document imaging and clerical tasks. The student will: create a welcoming environment for clients, assist clients in the financial aid process, review incoming documents for completeness, make appointments and referrals when necessary. Candidates will answer basic financial aid questions at the counter and on the telephones. Additional responsibilities may include: preparing documents for image scanning, sorting, date stamp, and reviewing mail for completeness and route to appropriate staff, returning incomplete documents and forwarding those complete for continued processing, scanning documents, and mailing all notifications. The employee will gain an understanding of financial aid program eligibility requirements. The student will start the business day in the lobby by logging on computers, unlocking entrances, preparing the client service area and environment, and ending the day by logging off computers, locking entrances, preparing client service area for the next day. Training and orientation will be in the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarships Office, and Titan Hub and consist of observing other full-time staff while they serve students at the records, reception, counter, and telephone service area. In addition to this, responsibilities include other duties as assigned and occasional evenings and weekends for outreach events.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
