Job Summary

Disability Support Services (DSS) provides equal and meaningful access for students with permanent and temporary disabilities by ensuring equity in all aspects of campus life. The program ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations mandating equal opportunity and access for person with disabilities and is responsible for a variety of complex tasks. DSS provides co-curricular and academically related services which empower students with disabilities to achieve academic and personal self-determination. We are seeking student assistants to join our team. The ideal candidates in this role should have a positive attitude and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under direct supervision of DSS Testing Staff, the student assistant will assist with the administration of exam accommodations for DSS students between the hours of 8am-10pm. The student assistant will work one on one with students who have various disabilities by facilitating their quiz/test/final exam, answering questions, and technical support if needed. The student assistant will assist staff and faculty with receiving and returning exams to appropriate departments. The student assistant will also provide overall customer service to students, staff, and faculty that need assistance in DSS.

Minimum Qualifications

The individual must maintain confidentiality, have the ability to learn and perform assigned work, follow oral instructions, and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.

The student assistant will communicate effectively with all levels, read, and write English at a level appropriate to the position, have the ability to sit for 2 or more hours overseeing students taking exams.

The student assistant should have the ability to maneuver around campus and interact with campus staff/faculty.

Required Qualifications

  • • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
    • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
    • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
    • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
    • Students should have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and/or projects.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
