About the Position: 

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed in educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically, and environmentally astute, civically responsible alumni able to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Dean for Student Relations, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Associate Dean for Student Relations is a key member of the Dean’s Staff and plays an important leadership role in the college and in working with the Dean to advance the vision and goals of the college. In addition, the Associate Dean for Student Relations manages student recruitment, assessment, retention, and degree completion. Works respectfully and cooperatively with faculty. Provides guidance for college efforts in student and program assessment, as well as student orientation, retention, advising, and degree completion. Responds to student appeals, petitions, disqualifications, and complaints through personal counseling and mediation. Represents the College on the University Student Petitions Committee. Manages and coordinates all matters related to the college's curriculum including providing guidance on course curriculum, making recommendations to the Dean on curricular matters, and facilitating review and accuracy of proposed curricular changes. In collaboration with department chairs, the Associate Dean also monitors enrollment across departments as they impact curricula and the health of academic programs. Manages the implementation of high impact practices, such as Study Abroad and Study Away and Passage to the Future. Works with departments to facilitate Program Performance Review processes/calendar/submission. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must hold a tenured position within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate dedication to the mission of the College and University, a record of excellence in teaching, research and service, a commitment to collegial governance and diversity, a desire to work in support of the full range of programs in the Humanities and Social Sciences, computer skills and knowledge of software applications appropriate for the position, excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and successful leadership and supervisory experience. Experience in student relate activities such as advising, mentorship, leading high impact practice activities.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
