Salary

Classification Range $16.50 - $24 per hour.

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $18 per hour.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.

Financial Services is looking for a student assistant, preferably a graduate student, to provide support to the Business Operations and Process Improvement department, specifically in the communication and marketing areas. This part-time position works a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of division marketing materials, including social media content, newsletters, promotional materials, and website.
  • Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns and events.
  • Maintain and update the division’s social media platforms and website.
  • Assist with internal and external communications, including drafting emails and other documents.
  • Help with designing a survey and analyzing the survey results.
  • Assist with Analyzing data and support the creation of visualization on key financial metrics.  
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Business Administration).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram).
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be professional, punctual, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
 

Required Qualifications

 

 

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
    Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
