20 hours during M-F 9:00am - 7:00pm  weekends as necessary

Job Summary

The CSUF Pollak Library is seeking creative, outgoing, and tech-savvy individuals to staff the library’s new Makerspace. The Makerspace is a resource where students can access various new equipment to inspire creativity and learning. Currently, the Makerspace has a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, sewing machines, VR headsets, podcasting production equipment, and more.  Under the supervision of Library staff you will provide guidance in using the equipment, troubleshoot equipment issues, and oversee reservations.

Minimum Qualifications

No prior work experience is required, but previous experience with any of the Makespace equipment is preferred. Must be comfortable with new technology, able help others use equipment, communicate with fellow staff and supervisors effectively, and adhere to safety protocols for all equipment. Must be reliable, conscientious, and capable of some independent judgment.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with the public service desk 

•Guiding others in the use of makerspace tools and equipment.  
• Learning/having bibliographic knowledge of the library’s call number system and set up. 
• Makerspace Room Maintenance (cleaning, dusting, reorganizing materials) 
• Checking patrons into to use equipment 

• Helping with patrons with makerspace reservation  
• Referring patrons to appropriate service desks and departments within the library. 
• Willingness to learn. 
• Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Federal Work Study funding

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
