Job Summary
Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.
Under the supervision of the office analysts, the student assistant duties include, but are not limited to:
• Provide assistance and customer service to students and staff • Assist with general office duties (e.g. filing, copying, scanning, delivering campus correspondence, etc.) • Answer phone calls on the CPC line, x3205 and respond to emails in a professional, appropriate manner with accurate information • File e-documents and make e-file folders for staff as needed • Assist staff with combining/converting credential student e-files • Update/Scan paper credential files as needed • Scan, index, and assist with archiving credential files • Learn about general credential information, and perform additional projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Required Qualifications
Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Ability to manage multiple projects; to work under minimum supervision • Ability to interact and communicate professionally with students and staff • Ability to use independent judgement, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills • Strong computer skills
Background Check
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
