Job Summary
Under the direction of the IT staff and Lead Consultants, the Student Assistant provides customer service to CSUF students at Center for Equitable Digital Access (CEDA). Provide front-line customer service by answering phone calls and assisting students at the service desk.
Assist with the check-in and check-out process for long and short-term device loans.
Provide basic technical support to users of the Innovation Center.
Assist with room setup and preparation for the Data Visualization Center (DVC), ensuring all equipment and facilities are ready for use.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are in proper working order.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the library's IT and customer service functions.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Strong interpersonal skill with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of personnel with a good customer-oriented mindset.
Successful candidates must possess excellent phone, verbal, and written communication skills.
Candidates must be able to interact professionally with users, co-workers, and supervisors.
Requires evenings or nighttime shift availabilities.
Required Qualifications
Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
Background Check
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
