Instructional Student Assistant – Instructional Lab Assistant Pool

POSITION

The Department of Computer Science at CSUF invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant - ILA Pool. Lab Assistants tend lab sections for CPSC 120/121L, circulate and help students with their work and provide academic support under faculty supervision. Lab Assistants are not involved in the creation or grading of assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparing lab materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Support instructors during lab sessions as needed, including distributing materials or helping students with equipment
  • Clean and organize lab areas before and after sessions, ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Set up, test, and maintain lab equipment; report any malfunctions or safety issues
  • Ensure student compliance with lab rules                                                       

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in the Computer Science department
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students
  • Computer Science major; GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Has completed CPSC 120, 121, and 131, or equivalents, with at least a "B"
  • Preferably has taken at least one of these courses at CSUF
  • Excellent ability to operate the operating systems, Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), command-line interfaces (CLIs), and other mandated software environments used in lower-division CPSC courses
  • Eligible to work in the United State and can provide eligibility documents

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00 per hour.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
