Business Tutoring Center/CSUF College of Business Instructional Student Assistant Pool
POSITION
The Business Tutoring Center at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.
We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Business and Economics to provide tutoring services in the following subject areas:
Accounting: ACCT 201A/B, 301A/B, 302
Business Writing: BUAD 201, 301
Economics: ECON 201, 202, 315, 320
Finance: FIN 320
Information Systems and Decision Sciences: ISDS 361A/B
As a tutor, you will be expected to perform the following duties:
Help students make academic progress and achieve a better understanding of specific subject material while promoting independent learning.
Provide academic assistance and support to undergraduate students individually or in a group setting.
Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned students.
Maintain a punctual and reliable work schedule.
Must attend all tutor training and meetings.
Team up with other tutors in review sessions; and assist where needed.
Serve as an exemplary role model to students.
May perform other tasks as assigned: virtual “front desk” customer service; prepare reports; marketing the Center; connecting with faculty; occasionally promote service via classroom presentations.
This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Tutors are selected based on strong academic and leadership skills, strong work ethic and the ability to communicate well with others.
Candidates must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in the CSUF College of Business and Economics
Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Must be able to work at least 10 hours per week and have at least a year to graduate.
Possess excellent communication skills and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to build strong and positive relationships with students.
Maturity, respect for students, and ability to listen with patience and have an open mind.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior tutoring experience with students is a plus

COMPENSATION
All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $19.00
