Job Title

Graduate Student Assistant – Residential Engagement (non-research, non-academic related)

Salary

Classification Range $16.50 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications

Room and Board – a furnished room in the Single Apartments Community; 7-day meal plan + $200 dining dollars per semester.

Will work in conjunction with the GSA/s Course Schedule. Late-night and weekend time commitments may be required for the position.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director for Residential Engagement, the HRE Graduate Student Assistant (HREGA) for Residential Engagement will assist staff with developing and implementing residential engagement for on-campus residents. The GSA for Residential Engagement will gain an understanding of student leader selection and training, advising of student leaders, supporting themed learning community programs, serving in an on-call rotation, and other duties as assigned.

45% - Supports staff with the Resident Student Association (RSA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). Attends RSA/NRHH executive and general board meetings with staff. Assists staff and supports check-ins with board members regularly.

25% - Student assistant Training: Supports staff with the Training committee with training modules and other training materials for Fall and Winter training sessions. Assists with training assessment and makes recommendations for moving the training program forward. Serves as a member of the Student Assistant Selection Committee. Assists with Student Leader selections and RSA/NRHH elections, assists staff with onboarding and training.

10% - Supports staff with updating student leader manuals and budget tracking for RSA/NRHH. Assists in ensuring RSA/NRHH maintains eligibility as a CSUF student organization.

15% - Supporting Residential Engagement Model (REM) and Themed Learning Communities goals and activities. Assists with housing cases and is present as another HRE support for emergencies/crisis after hours when needed.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, with evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work and leadership experience. Ability to supervise, assist, and train students, as well as assist staff in the implementation of special projects. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to issues of diversity.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Current CSUF student enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • A student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated) or is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, or academic dismissal).
  • A student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information,/or if it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
