POSITION

The Department of TitanWELL at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Graduate Assistant Graduate Peer Health Educator Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF graduate students to act as Graduate Peer Health Educators (GPHEs), who support in-person and virtual health promotion and education programming. This includes but is not limited to supporting the Assistant Director and Health Educator for TitanWELL with creating, implementing, and evaluating health promotion activities and education events within the area of Alcohol and Other Drugs; facilitating peer-to-peer workshops, trainings, and presentations; mentorship of TitanHEALTH Peer Educators, and providing support to TitanHEALTH teams (TitanWELL, TitanMED, TitanTHRIVE, MOD) with outreach and events as needed.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of TitanWELL Health Promotion Services and direct supervision of the Health Educator for Substance Intervention & Prevention (SIP), the GPHE should be able to:

  • Assist TitanWELL assistant director and health educator with developing educational materials, including but not limited to curriculum and activities, for presentations on SIP-related topics.
  • Tailor education to campus partners or specific demographics.  
  • Engage in outreach activities for department promotion, event coordination, and education.
  • Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs and outreach efforts.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to TitanHEALTH Peer Educators.  
  • Assist in TitanHEALTH office organization and office projects. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a pool of Graduate Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of TitanWELL Health Promotion Services and direct supervision of the Health Educator for Substance Intervention & Prevention (SIP), the GPHE must be:

  1. Admitted to CSUF and currently enrolled (non-extended education) in a master’s program and maintain enrollment through term of employment.
  2. Be in Good Academic Standing (cumulative GPA 2.0 or greater) and maintain Good Academic Standing through term of employment.
  3. Ability to work well with diverse staff, faculty, and students, and collaborate with off-campus organizations.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Canva.
  5. Experience with social marketing, volunteer management, or program management.
  6. Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for public health, TitanHEALTH, TitanMED, TitanWELL, TitanTHRIVE, and CSUF.
  7. Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative, a strong desire to learn, and an ability to work well on a team.
  8. Possess strong communication and organization skills and an ability to balance multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  9. Learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff and other students; communicate effectively with all levels, and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Mandatory new employee documentation/paperwork – selected candidates will need to provide work eligibility documents and complete new hiring paperwork for Human Resources/Payroll/Student Health Center.

All employees of TitanHEALTH must provide vaccination records to screen for immunity to the vaccine preventable diseases listed below. Also, all Student Health Center employees are required to complete tuberculosis screening questionnaire. The Screening Nurses from the health center will be checking for the following vaccination/immunizations (OSHA and CDC recommendations for health care employees):

  • MMR 
  • Hepatitis B 
  • TDAP
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Influenza (required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform work at a computer display terminal.
  • Move (i.e. push, lift) items that are 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Communicate with groups of students for extended periods of time.

COMPENSATION

All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only. 

Classification Range $3,408 to $6,072 per month 
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $4,000

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

This offer maybe contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified.

Please note, that continued employment is contingent upon your successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy. Graduate Assistants rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
