HSS Student Success Center Graduate Assistant Pool

POSITION
|
The HSS Student Success Center at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Graduate Assistant Pool. Support the Student Success Center by providing reception desk coverage, appointment, drop-in advising and workshop check-in, and other support as needed.
We welcome applications from graduate students currently accepted or enrolled in a graduate program within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at CSUF.
- Providing academic support to undergraduate H&SS students.
- Coordinating various workshops, including check-in, tracking student attendance and outreach.
- Monitoring and answering emails sent to the Student Success Center email account.
- Collaborating with members of the Student Success Team on various advising programming
- Supporting College outreach efforts to various H&SS student populations, including those on academic notice, students at risk, and graduation candidates.
- Tracking students supported via email and in person.
- Assist in planning and programming for College events.
- Support with data collection.
- Participate in University-wide special events (e.g., Experience Cal State Fullerton Day).
- Coordinate communication efforts to HSS students.
- Support the Student Success Center by assisting with providing reception desk coverage and other support as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
This is a pool of Graduate Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
- The candidate must be a currently enrolled graduate student in a graduate program within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Must be in good academic standing
- Current acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at CSUF.
- Available weekdays during hours of operation (8am-5pm). This position may include evening hours (to 7:30pm) and occasional weekend hours.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research skills including the ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data on student success.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, use independent judgment, and apply critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
- An undergraduate degree from the College of Humanities and Sciences at CSUF is preferred

COMPENSATION
|
All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $3,245 to $6,072 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,800
The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

This offer is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified.
Please note, that continued employment is contingent upon your successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy. Graduate Assistants rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check.
