College of Business and Economics Online Business Program – Graduate Assistant Pool

POSITION
|
The undergraduate Online Business program in the CSUF College of Business and Economics invites applications for its Graduate Assistant position.
The Graduate Assistant (Student Ambassador) in the Online B.A. in Business Administration Degree-Completion program plays a critical supportive role in various activities. This position is designed to assist in enhancing the Online Business student experience through collaborative efforts with the associate dean/program director, assistant director, and administrative team.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking to deepen their understanding of academic advising, student engagement, and data-driven advising and student retention strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the assistant director, respond to both prospective and continuing student inquiries through Zoom, email, and telephone
- Run and analyze academic progress reports for review and use by the assistant director
- Assist in preparing recruitment, admission, and advising projects and campaigns for implementation by the assistant director
- Assist in planning key Online Business events such as Information Sessions, New Student Welcomes, Graduation Receptions, and other program-related student events and activities
- Draft written content for review by the assistant director for posting to the Online Business LinkedIn group
- Research trends and best practices in online learner retention for review by the assistant director
- Collaborate on the maintenance of various Prospect, Applicant, and Student tracking spreadsheets; assist in the preparation of related reports
- Assist in the maintenance of Community College contact lists, including internet research to ensure accuracy

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
- Candidates must be a currently enrolled graduate student in the Counseling or Higher Education department.
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) degree in education, psychology, sociology or related field or equivalent experience.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including adult learners and first-generation college students.
- Ability to build empathetic relationships with online learners, who are juggling multiple competing personal, professional, and academic responsibilities.
- Proficient in organizing and analyzing data.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, professional maturity, and interpersonal communication skills with professionalism in face-to-face, email, phone, and online interactions.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level appropriate to ensure delivery of clear instructions and clear interpretation of policy/process to others relative to position duties.
- Strong self-management skills; ability to honor work schedule, project deadlines, and other commitments, successfully balance competing priorities, proactively communicate changes to schedule and project status; anticipate, identify, and/or communicate issues to supervisor, and to independently problem-solve at a level appropriate for position; ability to show accountability for work performance and accept professional coaching feedback.
- Proficient in software and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Zoom, Teams, Google Workspace, Dropbox, and OneDrive
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards with student data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
|
- Experience taking college-level online courses and participating in online communities.
|

COMPENSATION
|
All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.
Classification Range: $3,408 to $6,072 per month Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,408
The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

This offer is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified.
Please note, that continued employment is contingent upon your successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy. Teaching Associates rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check.
