Job Summary

The Student Assistant will assist with the business functions of the student-run agency, serve as a point of contact for agency clients to provide continuity for clients between semesters and account teams, and provide directions to other student teams. Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are essential for success. Basic business knowledge is also essential. Higher levels of professionalism and organization are a must.

Under the direction of the faculty member, below are specific duties which include:

  • Serve as contact with agency clients to address account issues and provide continuity for clients between semesters and account teams.
  • Working alongside the faculty member, and in some cases, may provide lead direction to ensure the completion and submission of all business documents. Keep track of all documents in hard copy and online form.
  • Assist with the setup and monitor time management software, and maybe provide technical assistance and problem-solving to students, as needed.
  • Monitor the agency email account and Google Drive cloud storage. Assist teams in uploading documentation of client services to the appropriate team folders.
  • Assist teams in the appropriate use of email and the archiving of past messages and content, allowing the system to be used efficiently and productively by all students.
  • Assist in maintaining student-run agency lab security by assuring the lab remains locked, and access by non-agency students is prevented.
  • Assist with lab computer hardware and software operation issues as they develop, as needed.
  • Conduct regular inventories of supplies and project future supply needs.
  • Assist the faculty with administrative operations, as assigned and as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications: Applications are strongly encouraged from students in the College of Communications or the College of Business and Economics.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
