Salary:

Classification Range $16.90 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $20.00. Part-time - no more than 20 hours/week. Prefer students available at least 8-10 hours/week. Hiring wages range from $16.90-$20.00/hour, determined by previous relevant work experience.

Work Schedule:

Normal business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-7:00pm. Some weekends shifts may also be periodically available. Applicant must be willing to coordinate work hours with other student assistants so that shifts do not overlap.

Job Summary:

The Office of Graduate Studies is hiring multiple student assistants to provide general office support to the Office of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Studies Center. Under the supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator and Office Department Coordinator, the student assistant duties include but are not limited to:

  • General office duties such as answering phones and emails, and providing general front desk customer service;
  • Maintain an inviting, clean and supportive environment for students;
  • Create social media content and use various print and electronic media to develop promotional materials;
  • Support and assist with graduate student events, such as programs and workshops;
  • Assist students with navigating graduate student resources and the graduate program applications;
  • Assist Graduate Studies staff on various projects or programs;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Students enrolled in the counseling, psychology, or social work graduate programs, or students with a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Students with no other CSUF positions (CSUF student employees are limited to no more than 20 hours/week for all positions combined)
  • First-year graduate student.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level program at CSUF and is in good standing
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills (writing sample will be collected during interview)
  • Highly responsible, dependable, well-mannered, professional and responsive to the needs of students, staff, faculty and administrators
  • Ability to interact and communicate professionally with students, staff, and faculty
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with ongoing interruptions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use independent judgment, critical thinking skills and analytical skills
  • Experience using social media platforms

Background Check:

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
