Classification Range $16.90 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $17.

Work Schedule

Work schedule shall not conflict with class schedule. Must be available to work a minimum 4 hour shift when scheduled between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Monday-Thursday, or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Fridays.

  • May work up to 20 hours/week during the Fall and Spring semesters*
  • May work up to 40 hours/week during the Summer, Winter semesters*
  • Must be available to work during Commencement week.

*(Hours of work are not guaranteed, based on operational need.)

Job Summary

About the position

The ideal candidate will demonstrate great customer service to a diverse university population, including faculty, staff, management, students, and visitors. Under the direction of the Parking Services Manager and/or full-time Customer Service team members, the Customer Service Student Assistant will perform the following responsibilities. Students must be flexible to work for the department's operational needs. Students may work at the Visitor Information Centers (VICs), in the office, or outside on campus.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support
  • General office duties such as data entry, filing, and photocopying
  • Manage large amounts of incoming calls and email inquiries
  • Keep records of customer interactions
  • Provide wayfinding information for campus guests in VICs
  • Perform cashiering services by taking payment information
  • Provide appropriate solutions and alternatives to customer inquiries
  • Special projects
  • Work events such as Commencement, tabling events. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to observe and analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Must be able to stand for a long period of time, including in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to carry at least 25 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • A CA driver's license (Class C) is highly recommended with at least six (6) months of active driving experience.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
