Instructional Student Assistant – Research Pool

POSITION

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant  Research Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department to work with individual faculty for conducting research or project activities under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member.

An Instructional Student Assistant is a CSUF graduate or undergraduate student who is appointed at an hourly rate to assist with research activities or projects under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member.

The instructional student assistant may complete literature research/review materials, create summaries of articles, do data entry, and organize drafts

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, or academic dismissal).
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled undergraduate or post-bac students in the Department of Communications Sciences and Disorders.
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students
  • Ability to build strong and positive relationships with students.
  • Maturity, respect for students, and the ability to listen with patience and have an open mind
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in at least 3 units in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide eligibility documents

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have earned a B+ or better in the respective courses.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have a general understanding of research concepts

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $17.86

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
