Job Summary

Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.

The Student Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the Application Development & Support team while assisting with campus web content management and design. This position offers hands-on experience in higher education IT operations, reporting, and web development using Modern Campus CMS.

Key responsibilities include supporting the preparation of monthly reports, organizing and maintaining documentation, and assisting with general office tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and communications. The student will also contribute to website updates and enhancements using Modern Campus CMS, ensuring content accuracy, accessibility compliance,

broken URL links, and alignment with university branding standards.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn new technologies. This role provides an opportunity to develop professional skills in administrative coordination, web content management, and digital accessibility within a collaborative IT environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Essential Qualifications
• Knowledge in Web Accessibility Standards (508 compliance), HTML, Javascript. ASP.net programming (preferred, but not required)
• Good problem solving skills with strong analytical ability over business and technical requirements and issues
• Strong interpersonal skill with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of personnel with a good customer oriented mindset
• Diligent, highly motivated, and work-oriented with excellent attention to details
• Able to start work immediately or within short notice
• Must possess a strong desire to learn additional skills / development languages during course of employment
• Prefer at least 3 semesters remaining at CSUF due to the nature of learning and assimilating campus specific applications and development

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student with at least 3 semesters remaining.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Must possess a strong desire to learn additional IT related skills, such as web application development and programming.
  • Strong interpersonal skill with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of personnel with a good customer-oriented mindset.
  • Successful candidates must possess excellent phone, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be able to interact professionally with users, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to explain technical matters clearly and without “computer jargon.”
  • Strong analytical and computer troubleshooting skills.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
