Job Summary

The COMM Squad at Pollak Library is seeking a creative, outgoing, and motivated student to support the library’s marketing and communications efforts, with a primary focus on social media content creation and outreach, who is not due to graduate before May 2027.This position is ideal for a student interested in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, or related fields who enjoys storytelling, creating engaging content, and connecting with the campus community.

The Marketing/Communications Student Assistant will help manage the library’s social media presence, create photo and video content, support campus outreach efforts, and assist with event promotion and engagement. This role requires flexibility, creativity, strong communication skills, and comfort being both behind and in front of the camera. It is a part of a team that also consists of graphic designers and other social media student assistants and is supervised by the Marketing and Communications professional at Pollak Library. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, filming, and appearing in promotional videos and social media content

  • Help maintain an active and engaging social media presence for the library

  • Attend library events to support outreach efforts, including photography, videography, hosting, and engaging attendees

  • Assist with event promotion and encourage student participation during outreach activities

  • Post flyers and promotional materials across campus and throughout the library

  • Assist with basic digital and print marketing materials as needed

  • Complete training and apply CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) standards to ensure digital accessibility and compliance

  • Collaborate with library faculty, staff, and fellow student assistants on marketing initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Major in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field 

    • Comfortable being on camera and interacting with students, faculty, and campus visitors

    • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)

    • Experience with photography, video editing, or content creation preferred

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Organized, dependable, and flexible in a fast-paced environment

    • Willingness to learn accessibility and ATI compliance standards (training provided)

    • Proficient in Canva and Adobe Suite

    • Federal work study preferred for Academic Year

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
