Job Summary

The COMM Squad at Pollak Library is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Design Student Assistant to support the library’s marketing and communications efforts through visual storytelling and design. This position is ideal for an Art major or graduate student with a concentration in Graphic Design who is not due to graduate before May 2027.

This role focuses on designing digital and print materials for marketing campaigns, supporting outreach and event promotion, and working closely with social media student assistants to ensure consistent visual messaging. The Graphic Design Student Assistant will also assist with posting flyers across campus and within the library and may occasionally support events, including engaging with students, staff, and faculty and appearing on camera when needed.

This position is part of a collaborative team that includes other graphic design and social media student assistants and is supervised by the Marketing and Communications professional at Pollak Library. work is completed in the office or on-campus, flexibility and teamwork are essential as students support each other across projects and events.

 


Responsibilities

  • Design digital and print marketing materials for campaigns, events, and library promotions

  • Ensure all designs align with CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) standards (training provided)

  • Collaborate with social media and marketing student assistants to maintain consistent visual messaging

  • Assist with posting flyers and promotional materials across campus and within the library

  • Support outreach and engagement efforts by helping promote library events

  • Assist at events, including interacting with students, staff, and faculty

  • Maintain visual branding consistency across all library communications

  • Contribute to documenting visual messaging and design best practices

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and student assistants on marketing initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
    • Art major or graduate student with a concentration in Graphic Design (not graduating before May 2027)

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required)

    • Experience with Canva for quick design and social media assets

    • Strong understanding of layout, typography, and visual branding

    • Comfortable collaborating in a team environment

    • Comfortable appearing on camera when needed for marketing content

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

    • Portfolio of design work required if selected for interview

    • Federal work study preferred

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
