Speech and Debate Forensic Graduate Assistant Pool

POSITION

The Department of Human Communication Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Speech and Debate Forensic Graduate Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF graduate students in the Department of Human Communications Studies for a position as a Forensics Graduate Assistant who supports instructional, research, and competitive activities for the Speech and Debate Forensics. The position requires a high level of professionalism, reliability, and clear communication. 

Duties included but are not limited to:

  • Attend weekly class/lecture meetings assigned by the Co-Directors/Faculty,
  • Provide research and speech assistance to students in preparation of assigned research files
  • Attend required team events, tournaments, coaching practices, judging sessions a
  • Assist with tournament preparation such logistics 
  • Hold weekly office hours
  • Other duties assigned to support the team

This is a pool of Speech and Debate Forensic Graduate Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.

ASSIGNMENTS ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED COURSE ASSIGNMENTS ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must be a currently enrolled graduate student in the M.A. program in Human Communications Studies Department
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.
  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and clear communication to faculty, staff, students, and community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Preference will be given to those with significant experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Students with Federal Work Study Award

COMPENSATION

All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $3,245 to $4,380 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,800

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
