Collections Representative II
One-Stop Financial Services/Collections

Salary Range: $3,680 - $6,284/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: The University Collector duties will be performed in Student Loan Services and Collections of One-Stop Financial Services. The incumbent will be responsible for collections of past due housing, tuition, fees, 30-day loans, financial aid over awards, dishonored items, and parking citations which include one-on-one communication, collection letters, phone calls, payment contracts and submission to the collection agencies and Franchise Tax Board. Other responsibilities include: prepare installment payment plans, monitor Dream Loan Accounts, including separation dates and exit interviews and service students with loan awards for Perkins, Nursing, and Dream Loans which includes orientation, exit interviews, deferments, and collections of past due accounts. Serve as a liaise between the billing servicer, consolidation companies, collection agencies with the campus and the Department of Education.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible financial record-keeping experience, including collections experience. Experience of increasingly responsible financial record-keeping, including collections, lending, or a related area or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Must have experience: working independently, using good judgment to apply policies and procedures to difficult and unusual situations. Experience gathering and analyzing information: including experience in following through on detail: compiling data for reports and composing correspondence. Effectively interpreting policies and procedures in written or verbal for. Experience using Word and Excel. Competency in desktop software, including Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to work independently, use judgment and initiative in applying policies and procedures to difficult and unusual situations, gather and analyze information, follow through on detail, and compile data for reports and compose correspondence. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience handling student issues, and effectively interpreting policies and procedures in written or presentation form. Must be able to exercise a high level of tact and judgment in addressing campus community members. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Experience using Educational Computer Systems, Inc. (ECSI), PeopleSoft and Transact.
